Domestic violence is a very big problem and one of the leading causes of women’s injuries in rural Uganda. Women experience violence from their partners, at least 60% of them have been harassed,battered and some times murdered by their partners. Methods used include beating, pushing, dragging, forced sex, arm twisting etc. Unemployment, absolute poverty, illiteracy and the poor living conditions are major obstacles facing these women who are struggling to live a happier lives.
Skills training -for job creation, reduced poverty, and improved living conditions. Sensitization and empowerment for domestic violence prevention. The victims and those vulnerable will acquire job skills to start own income generating businesses.
The project creates opportunities for over 200 women in need of training skills for income generation. The project also sensitizes women on domestic violence prevention.
