In North Kivu, many young people face unemployment, poverty, and limited opportunities to build a better future. For those growing up in communities affected by conflict and economic hardship, finding a stable source of income can feel out of reach. Through Train Youth Skills in North Kivu Today, we aim to give vulnerable youth practical skills in carpentry, plumbing, sewing, masonry, and cooking, helping them become self-reliant and support their families.
The project is currently in its preparation phase. Our team is identifying qualified trainers and prospective learners in Goma, Bukavu, and surrounding communities. Although fundraising has not yet begun to yield donations, we remain committed to raising the $22,000 needed to launch the training activities. Once funding is secured, participants will receive practical instruction, mentorship, and support to develop skills they can use to find work, start small businesses, and earn a living.
We believe that investing in young people can create lasting change that reaches far beyond the individual. A young person who learns a trade gains more than a skill: they gain an opportunity to provide for their family, rebuild their confidence, and contribute to their community. We sincerely thank GlobalGiving for providing a platform through which our project can reach international donors and supporters. This partnership gives us an important opportunity to share our mission and work toward our fundraising goal.
We invite donors, foundations, and friends around the world to support this initiative. Every contribution, regardless of size, will bring us closer to launching vocational training and opening new doors for young people in North Kivu. Together, we can help turn uncertainty into opportunity and give more young people the chance to build a dignified and independent future. Thank you to GlobalGiving and to everyone who chooses to stand with the youth of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
