That day, our whole family was filled with both excitement and nervous anticipation as we prepared to welcome a little new member into our home. A Volunteer Puppy Raiser coordinator brought you to your new home. When the car door opened, your peaceful, sleeping face instantly melted our hearts. Looking at your round, chubby little body, we happily brought your things inside and welcomed you into your new home.
When you first arrived, you were young and full of energy. After a good meal, you would fall sound asleep, only to wake up ready to bounce around and explore every corner of the house.
Gradually, you began going out for socialization and training, learning about different environments and meeting different people. During walks, you were always curious, stopping to sniff fallen leaves and fruit on the ground and sometimes even trying to nibble on them. Whenever you saw another dog, you would excitedly wag your little tail and want to go over and play. When neighbors warmly greeted us, you could not contain your excitement and would jump around as if saying, “I want to play with you too!”
Beyond training, Captain has always brought our family so much joy and warmth.
You especially love your big sister. Every morning, you would eagerly wait for her to wake up so you could play together. If you heard even the slightest sound from her room, you would grab a toy and wait by the door. You would also happily go with Mom to pick her up from school, your tail wagging excitedly the moment she got into the car, as if saying, “Let’s go home! We have to play!”
At home, you love curling up beside my feet for a nap, sometimes even letting out a loud snore. When it is time to go back to your crate for the night, you often refuse to move from your little bed in the living room. Captain seems to understand these little interactions so well that I have truly come to appreciate how much warmth and comfort he brings to our everyday lives.
As a Volunteer Puppy Raiser family, our time with Captain has been a gentle journey of care, learning, and responsibility. Every member of our family has grown through this experience, and we feel both proud and deeply aware of the responsibility we have taken on. You are more than a puppy growing up in our home—you are a young guide dog preparing for an important future, and we are grateful to be part of your journey.
