We would like to report our progress in reaching youth and young adults in the Idlewild community. Our 2 day financial seminar enlightened approximately 30 individuals in understanding budgeting, savings, and investments. The Q & A sessions that followed enabled a large majority of our youth to understand the importance of budgeting and how a structured savings plan along with sound investment choices can build generational wealth.
We also held a health and wellness clinic in which the community participated by visiting 8 exhibits set up to explain the 8 laws of health and how to incorporate them into their daliy life. Healthy snack packets, samples, and water were distributed to approximately 50-60 attendees. Exhibits included a health information station, a bmi and weight station, blood pressure station, body massage station, and nurse station.
Our talent show event "Apollo Night at the TEEM Center" gave youth and young adults in the community a chance to showcase their talents and enjoy a time of expression in the creative art of their choice. Approximately 40 incividuals were in attendance and 8 winners received cash prizes or free bowling coupons. Snacks, popcorn, and water were made available to those in attendance.
All of the TEEM Center events were well received by the community and requests to continue similar programming and events continue to come in. We are committed to "building the soul of our community".
