This project will build a group of 22 young homosexual human rights defenders in West Cameroon able to build a framework and favorable living conditions for about 2420 people identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender "LGBT" to through actions such as legal support, psychological and social support.
Cameroon's sexual diversity is very homophobic. Homosexual practice is treated as a diabolical and highly mystical act. This is why the law condemns homosexual practice up to 5 years of imprisonment and a fine of 200,000 francs. LGBTI people face this position, suffer daily violence and violations that deprive them of their rights. The social, personal and psychological consequences are numerous. This reality requires timely, appropriate action to give this target a good future.
We will strengthen the capacity of 22 LGBT defenders on human rights, digital and physical protection, to enable them to create favorable living conditions for LGBT through various actions: awareness of 2420 peers, advocacy to 60 local authorities, psychological, legal and social support, in the perspective of sustainability and self-determination of their actions for the promotion of a more just society, more respectful of Human Rights and for the construction of the LBGT identity in Cameroon.
- Downward incidence report related to self-stigmatization and violence and various violations against LGBT persons; - impact report related to homophobia downward; - Development of future prospects and development by LGBT people; - Inclusion of LGBT choice in local and national policies.
