In many Kenyan towns, girls grow up without laptops or internet, guided only by hope and determination. With the right support and tools, those quiet dreams can grow louder. This campaign will support 200 girls in Kilifi by providing tech training, devices, and mentorship. Just like PLP alumna Wangui, who learned to code using a borrowed phone and now builds AI systems while earning income as a freelance developer, your support can open doors for more girls ready to achieve their dreams.
Girls in Kilifi are often shut out of the digital revolution. Most have never owned a laptop, used stable internet, or met a role model in tech. Cultural barriers and poverty dim their dreams before they start. Many walk long distances to school or drop out due to early pregnancies. We've witnessed the transformation tech education can create, but without access, their talent goes unseen. This campaign meets them where they are and gives them the tools to move forward.
200 girls from Kilifi will receive Power Learn Project's digital skills scholarship. We will provide laptops, internet, mentorship, and hands-on training in software development, AI, and digital entrepreneurship. The program will offer holistic support and through the Talent Hub connect them to opportunities for work. Wangui's triumph shows what's possible when girls are supported. Our approach builds confidence teaching girls to code, lead, innovate, and believe in themselves.
Each girl trained creates a ripple effect by uplifting her immediate family and transforming her community. With digital skills and job-readiness support, these girls can pursue tech careers, launch ventures, or bring income home for the first time. Over time, more will stay in school and expand what's possible for rural youth. By investing in Kilifi's girls today, we build women ready to shape Africa's future girls who create solutions and lead with confidence.
