Talents Enabling Uganda seeks to train and nurture 160 young people to discover and translate their talents, passions into creating viable businesses that solve our community pains. We plan to mobilize and carry out 8 training's for out of school youth within Central Uganda(Kampala and Wakiso) in cohorts of 20 young people, inspire and empower them using talents discovery tools, business idea generation, coach and mentor them to create purpose driven work which resonate with them.
Uganda has the highest youth unemployment rate in Africa estimated at 65%. The problem is attributed to shortage of employable skills and limited capacity to solve real problems that people are willing to pay to have them solved. Although Government has created youth livelihood programmes, they focus on starting a business and ignore the self-awareness & Personal development of the entrepreneur. What they like to do, and the cause they feel drawn to, is important for the entrepreneur
Talents enabling Uganda provides self-discovery mentoring training's that help the youth to ideate and start businesses within their talents. Youth are taught to write 20-year life strategic plans, set financial goals, write business plans and guided on how to start a business in line with their passions. Youth are put into accountability partners until businesses are started and seen breaking even.
The program will empower 150 youth to own businesses enabling them to rise out of poverty. These 150 will employ 300 young men and women in the the community thereby positively engaging in reducing on the high employment rates.
