Sponsored a Young Mother at Secondary School

By Iwa Alex Raymond | Project Leader

Summary

In 2025, thanks to your generous support, FOCUS ON THE VULNERABLE (FOV) sponsored one young mother to continue her academic journey in secondary school in Torit County, South Sudan.

Although she was initially enrolled in vocational training, she later transitioned into formal secondary education in 2025. With your assistance, she successfully completed Senior One and is now preparing to advance to Senior Two this year, despite the challenges ahead.

This support is part of our broader commitment to empower 100 vulnerable youth in South Sudan through education and skills development.

Introduction

Dear GlobalGiving Family,

We are deeply grateful for your continued belief in our vision. Your contributions are not only restoring hope but also opening academic opportunities for vulnerable young mothers who once thought their education had permanently ended.Through your support, education is becoming a pathway to resilience, dignity, and long-term self-reliance.

Progress Update

In early 2025, FOV supported a young mother who had previously been enrolled in vocational training. After demonstrating strong commitment and academic potential, she made the courageous decision to transition into secondary school.

With your support, she:

  • Successfully completed Senior One in 2025.
  • Paid her third-term tuition fees.
  • Received scholastic materials necessary for her studies.

She adapted well to her new academic environment and performed impressively in her class. Her teachers describe her as bright, focused, and highly motivated.

Now, she is ready to advance to Senior Two this year. While financial and social challenges remain, her determination to continue her education is stronger than ever.

Impact Story

Meet our beneficiary, a 23-year-old mother of one.

After early motherhood interrupted her education, she believed her academic dreams were over. Vocational training gave her practical exposure, but her desire to return to formal education remained alive. In 2025, that dream became a reality.

Returning to secondary school was not easy. She had to adjust to academic coursework, assignments, and examinations after time away from the classroom. However, she embraced the challenge with confidence and joy.

“I never thought I would sit in a secondary classroom again. When I wear my school uniform, I feel proud. I want my child to see that education is possible.”

Her performance in Senior One has proven her capability. She now aspires to complete secondary education and pursue further professional training in the future.

Financial Summary

Your donations have made a direct and measurable impact. For this academic sponsorship:

  • Third Term Tuition Fee and Scholastic Materials: USD 50
  • Administrative and Coordination Cost: USD 50
  • Total: USD 100

These funds covered her school tuition, essential learning materials, and the administrative support required to monitor her academic progress and provide guidance.

Looking Ahead

As she transitions into Senior Two, continued support will be critical to ensure she completes her secondary education successfully. Education is not only changing her life, it is shaping a more resilient future for her child and her community.

Thank you for standing with vulnerable young mothers and giving them a second chance at education.
