This project will increase access to maternal and child health services to women in Kenya, providing a monthly stipend to village elders and community health promoters to refer women of childbearing age to the closest health facility. The project will also educate 500 women each month about the value of prenatal care and skill delivery.
Estimated rate of maternal death in 2021-2022 is 645 per 100,000 live births in Garissa County. The reason for death is Obstetric hemorrhage, hypertension, and child health survival initiatives are aimed at enhancing the survival of mothers, particularly antenatal and postnatal mothers, and newly born babies and children.
Women Health Initiative will expand the number of women of childbearing age who have access to and use maternal and child health services. Mothers will be trained on child care, nutrition and taught knowledge on child spacing
The project will educate 500 women each month about the value of prenatal care and skill delivery allowing them to rise out of maternal child mortality.
