More Kitchens, More Camps, More Fresh Food

The Update

The truth about rescuing food is that the horizon keeps moving. Just when we think we’ve found our rhythm, the need around us deepens.

Lately, the requests for fresh food have been coming in faster. Greece, and particularly Crete, where we are, is seeing a significant rise in new arrivals—refugees who need help with nutritious meals right now as they are being placed in camps and temporary accommodations. At the same time, the local grassroots groups, charity kitchens, and homeless organisations we partner with are stretched to their limits with families in need.

When the call comes in, we would rather not say, "We don't have the capacity." We want to say, "We are on our way."

Because of your support, we’ve been able to scale up. We are rescuing more produce from our farm partners and getting it directly into these communities. We aren't just delivering food; we are delivering vitality to kitchens that feed the homeless and families navigating the toughest transitions of their lives.

But while our distribution has grown, we know there is still so much room to do more. The farms still have a lot of surplus, the requests keep coming, and our logistics are the only thing standing between food being left in a field or filling a plate.

We have the bridge built. Now, we just need to keep the trucks moving and the crates full.

Thank you for standing with us as we grow to meet this need.

We’ve proved the model works—now let’s keep up with the demand.

With gratitude,

Olimpia and the Tomato Express Team
