We were treated with delicious local cooking!

We are excited to announce that our new project Rebuilding Communities of Sanriku Coastal Areas launched in February. 2 pilot events successfully held in February in March.

On 28th of February, we visited one of newly opened public housings for disaster affected residents (Saigai-koei-jutaku) in Ofunato-city, Iwate prefecture. Presentation on culture and the earthquake in 2015 by Mr. Bijay Gyawali a JISP member and Nepal project liaison, and his wife Mrs. Januka Gyawali. In March, Ms. Ryoko Otaki, Clinical Psychologist/certified Yoga instructor, facilitated a Yoga event for residents and care providers of temporary housing.

The main goal for this project is to facilitate healthy interaction among residents, as well as care providers of public housings and temporary housings. We believe that encouraging to communicate and express their thoughts and feelings will help create more supportive and resilience community for residents to empower themselves and to heal. The aim is to help create a safe environment that promotes such interaction.
