It has been exactly four months since The Action Foundation (TAF) experienced a devastating fire at our headquarters on 2 May 2026. The fire destroyed a space that, for more than 16 years, had served children and young people with disabilities and their families and provided a place where they could receive support, connect and belong.
Following the fire, we launched the Together for TAF Campaign to raise funds for our recovery and the rebuilding of our office and centre. We are pleased to share this update and, most importantly, to thank the funders, partners, friends and well-wishers who have supported us.
In the weeks following the fire, we sought guidance from our Board and learned from peer organizations and donors who had experienced similar challenges. We also made time to support our team through meetings, training, team-building activities, site visits and prayer.
Losing what we had built over more than 16 years has not been easy. However, we are grateful to report that we have restored our operations and that our programs continued with minimal interruption. Children and young people with disabilities and their families have continued to receive services as we raise the resources needed to rebuild.
The support we received helped us replace essential equipment, restore our operations and continue our programs. It also helped our staff and the families we work with adjust after the fire and move forward.
There is still work ahead. We are continuing to mobilize resources and prepare for the rebuilding of a safe, accessible and welcoming centre for the children, young people and families we serve.
Four months later, we are back. We are grateful for how far we have come and for everyone who helped us get here.
Here is our journey since the fire, and the progress we have made together.
