First and foremost, thank you to everyone in the GlobalGiving community that made this fundraiser possible. To date, UNETE has benefited 1,451,873 teachers, 29,582,275 students, totaling an impact at 8,743 schools across all states in Mexico.
This campaign has raised funds to impact one school in the area around Acapulco, Guerrero, an area in Guerrero that was devastated by hurricane Otis in October 2023. The funds from this project will be applied to the Teacher Mentoring program that the school receives as part of the UNETE intervention. Specifically, we will be preparing the educators for the Google for Education certificate, ensuring the teachers end the school year with newly honed digital skills for teaching and learning in a media classroom.
Our mission is ongoing and we have many more children and teachers to reach. As part of today’s report, we would like to highlight our 9th Annual Evaluation Forum, hosted on July 11 and 12th in Mexico City. This forum is a space for all the Teacher Mentoring Facilitators to come together with the rest of the UNETE team, to give feedback on the academic year’s successes and challenges. This year, we gathered over 53 UNETE facilitators to share their experiences in classrooms, working with teaching and students, across 24 states in Mexico.
A Teacher Mentoring Facilitator’s work is integral to the UNETE program at public schools. Their expertise in the use of technology for educational purposes, and the fact that they come from the same community they are teaching in, is key to mentor the teachers to become masters of technology for teaching purposes. This academic year, they also succeeded in guiding 892 public school teachers to be certified by Google for Education (making UNETE the second largest partner with Google for Education in Mexico)!
We look forward to sharing more about the teacher mentoring program, and UNETE’s overall impact in public school in Mexico, in reports.
