Today we are happy.
The students (approx. 900) started school. And to start the school year off right, we have implemented school gardens in 16 communities! We hope that thanks to them we will be able to improve their nutrition. We are also working with the cooks so that they can incorporate the vegetables they produce into their students' diets.
In order to make it a habit, we have also worked with the parents, so that the students can take this practice to their homes.
Each school garden has its own micro-irrigation system and water storage tank so that it can produce vegetables almost all year round.
Also for this purpose, in order to be sure of the change in their health, we have 3 young people who are doing an internship. They are doing a nutritional study. All 16 educational units are visited. Weight, height, age and eating habits are taken. In order to know the current nutritional status of all students.
The next steps: the 3 interns will conduct training workshops for teachers and cooks. Recipes will also be prepared, so that the students can have a balanced meal with delicious vegetables produced in their gardens.
With your support, we will achieve more.
