Covid continues to wreak havoc on economically marginalized individualks, families and communities in Nepal, who are typically dependant on the highly volatile daily labour market. In the absence of unemploymet benefits or any other form of goverment assistance, there is simply no marginto their precarious existence. Poverty rapidly translates into hunger and dispair.
At HimalayanLife, we are grateful for the opportunity to reach out to such marginalized families and communities. Just days before Christmas, we reached the 80,000 pound mark: 80,000 pounds of rice, along with lentels, tea leaves, oil, and other essential food staples have been distributed as relief to over 2,000 families.
Of course we have also provided Christmas gifts to hundreds of Children, und invited the impoverishe families to a hardy meal in the sense of a Christmas celebration.
With the threat of further restrictions and partial lockdowns on the horizon due to the spread of Omricon, we are preparing to provide more relief to families whose survival depends on it.
We are grateful for the donations that allow this work to continue!
