The second wave of the present Covid pandemic has been holding Nepal hostage for the past few weeks since mid April. Once again, strict lockdowns have been imoposed on the cities and rural communities alike across the country. However, this second wave has proven much more agressive in terms of transmissability and fatality rates than the first wave last year.
Once again, the poor are bearing the brunt of the economic impact. Day laborors are going without work and pay, and in the absence of help from the government, many families are simply unable to put food on the table.
Until May 15th, 2021, HimalayanLfe has been able to provide the following relief:
24,000 pound of rice, along with soybeans, oil, lentals, salt, tea
to 16 jungle communities
including 464 families with 1657 children and 911 adults
We appreciate all the donations which are making possible our continued relief efforts!
