Despite the ongoing economic crisis we have recruited and trained new women drivers to join our fleet of Think Pink taxis in Sri Lanka.
Our first women are driving in the capital city of Colombo where they can earn a good income by driving children to school and women to work.
Ramani has now been driving a pink taxi for 12 months and has been able not only to support her family, but to save some of her earnings so that she can lease a minibus to drive children to school.
Ramani is trusted by parents who now pay a retainer to keep her for the new term. Ramani has relinquished her pink tuk tuk which is being rented by a new driver giving her the opportunity to lift herself out of poverty and increase her social mobility.
Ramani says that after she became a Think Pink tuk tuk driver her life changed. She is now respected by her community and her family are regarded as successful. Ramani enjoys helping project Hope as a motivational speaker to uplift other women by sharing her story of becoming a successful entrepreneur.
