Our project offers our 10 children, who are infected or affected by HIV, a secure and loving family environment, providing them with a sense of self-worth and value within Thai society. Our children, who range in age and educational ability are between 3 and 17 years old. Our focus will be to add to their educational and social values/norms programs to the same level as other Thai children. This will enable them to reach their dreams of a promising career and return to care for their families
Thailand needs to address the evolution of its societal norms, social and cultural deprivation, and economic distribution of wealth to half a million Thai who are HIV+. We will focus on the lack of societal norms that families typically provide, work to enforce education as key in breaking the cycle of poverty, address the stigma of HIV ingrained in Thai society, and strengthen our capacity development. The goal is to further our children's education, whether at university or college.
We hired a Child Care Specialist to work with our children to define their career goals and reinforce Thai social norms/values. This direction is instrumental in displaying what is acceptable in Thai society. During the pandemic, schools provided online classes. The focus of our staff is to ensure that students maintain their studies as they reenter school. We re-established our HIV Educational Programs for our local community. These funds will enable us to diversify our funding approach.
This project will lay the groundwork for our ten children to further their education, achieve their dream careers and return to their homes to care for their families. In addition, they will become an instrumental part of Thai society as they educate their community on this health issue, intending to break down the stigma of HIV. The success of this project will enable us to expand our reach and welcome up to 30 additional children who are HIV+ or family members who are HIV+ to our project.
