The latrine is very useful for rural community . TCO engaged grassroot bottom up strategy through facilitating community dream building and establishing community action plan and provide the lesson sharing among one community to the other targeted communities. As a result, there were 4 latrines were installed in Tuol Rovieng village, Lvea commune, Puok district faciliatated by Ms. Pich Hach, TCO research assistant and Mr. Muong Soch, Tbeng Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Committee.
The lack of proper hygiene and sanitation facilities, including toilets, in remote areas like Tbeng commune within Banteay Srei district of Siem Reap province, Cambodia, poses a significant threat to public health. The reliance of rural villagers on traditional pit wells, which are often contaminated by rainwater runoff carrying waste, further exacerbates this issue. This contaminated water serves as a breeding ground for water-borne diseases, leading to a higher prevalence of these illnesses.
Trailblazer Cambodia Organization is committed to addressing the critical issues of water scarcity and sanitation in remote areas of Siem Reap province. Our approach involves drilling deeper wells to access cleaner groundwater sources and constructing new latrines. By providing access to both clean water and proper sanitation facilities, we aim to significantly reduce the risk of water contamination and improve the health and well-being of rural communities.
-Reduced water-borne diseases: Access to clean water and proper sanitation facilities will significantly decrease the incidence of diseases like diarrhea, typhoid, and cholera. -Improved health and well-being: A healthier population will lead to increased productivity, better education, and overall improved quality of life. -Economic benefits: Reduced healthcare costs can free up resources for other development priorities. -Environmental sustainability: Sustainable water management practices.
