Challenge

Public and some low-income private secondary schools in Gboko community do not have even the basic equipment to teach science and technical subjects no physics labs no chemistry labs, no microscopes, no computers no internet despite dedicated teachers and decent instruction. Solution

This funding will provide STEM Hub Lab for students' practical skills in science subjects. The facility will be an open free STEM Hub laboratory for all school children and community members to improve their scientific knowledge practically while transmitting contents to online portal for global accessibility and affordability of STEM practical learning materials. It will provide knowledge to all at no financial cost in the community to promote and also encourage women and girls in STEM courses

Long-Term Impact

The STEM Hub Lab is a means to encourage young girls, community members from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds to opt for STEM-related subjects when pursuing higher education. The Lab will help create an atmosphere that inspires creativity and scientific thinking in girls from a young age. In the long term we hope this will facilitate entry of girls from marginalised communities into the technology world as creators & makers, and even decision-makers around technology.
