We're thrilled to share the latest updates from Photo Start, showcasing how your generosity is empowering young minds through the transformative power of photography.
Photo Start recently celebrated the conclusion of their first cohort in partnership with MIKO Art Gallery. This program provided young people with an immersive experience in visual storytelling, allowing them to develop their skills from basic knowledge to creating powerful individual and collective projects. A student collective called "ISO with a lot of noise" emerged from this cohort, demonstrating the lasting impact of the program.
In an exciting new development, Photo Start has partnered with True Care Newday Center, an organization empowering teenage mothers. The first class with True Care trainees was a resounding success, with participants expressing enthusiasm about becoming content creators, media personalities, and professional photographers. This collaboration aims to equip young mothers with skills to confidently tell their own stories and open doors to new opportunities.
Additionally, Photo Start has joined forces with Human Needs Project, an organization dedicated to improving urban informal settlements. In just one month, this partnership has already produced impressive results, with students creating a remarkable body of work through photography and visual storytelling training.
Most recently, six budding photographers from the Photo Start and Human Needs Project partnership had the opportunity to cover Human Needs Project Kibera's 10th anniversary celebration. These young photographers embraced the challenge with enthusiasm and professionalism, capturing the essence of the event and growing in confidence throughout the experience.
These initiatives demonstrate how your small acts of kindness can create ripple effects of positive change in communities, empowering youth and fostering economic growth.
We're excited to share that on July 10th, GlobalGiving will be hosting its annual Bonus Day campaign where donations to Photo Start through the Small Acts of Kindness fund will receive matching funds. This is an excellent opportunity to amplify your impact and support Photo Start's transformative work.
Your continued support allows us to foster programs that empower individuals, build confidence, and create pathways to better futures. We invite you to join us on July 10th and help spread more kindness through the power of photography and storytelling.
Thank you for your generosity and for being part of this journey of positive change.
