At The SOL Foundation, our mission extends beyond providing access to nutritious, locally grown food through school and community gardens. We also strive to ensure that communities have access to fresh water, a fundamental human right.
In collaboration with our partner, Dear Diaries, in Mombasa, Kenya, we have conducted research on water access in rural regions. Our findings have identified approximately 10 villages on the outskirts of Mombasa with severely limited access to water. Young children, particularly girls, are forced to walk long distances to neighboring villages in search of water.
To address this critical issue, we have initiated a project to construct water dams/boreholes, providing these villages with access to fresh water. We are now seeking support from organizations and donors to help us complete the remaining 10 water dams/boreholes.
*Join Us in Making a Positive Impact*
Access to fresh water is not a privilege, but a fundamental human right. We invite you to partner with us in empowering communities and ensuring that this basic need is met. Together, we can create a lasting, positive impact.
*Support Our Water Access Initiative*
The SOL Foundation is pleased to report on the successful completion of our first water borehole project in Tana River, Kenya. This initiative has significantly impacted the local community, particularly young girls who no longer face the risks associated with fetching water.
Building on this achievement, we propose to construct a second water borehole in a different location within the same town. This expansion aims to ensure comprehensive access to this essential resource for the entire community.
Kenya's harsh desert climate and rising temperatures underscore the critical importance of reliable water access for community well-being and safety. Our recently completed water bore project in Tana River, Kenya, exemplifies our commitment to addressing this need:
- *Project Details*: The borehole is approximately 180 feet deep and designed to serve a small village with around 300 households and a population of over 1,000 people.
- *Impact*: By providing a reliable source of clean water, we aim to improve the health, education, and economic opportunities for the community, while reducing the risks associated with water scarcity.
We believe that this expansion project will further demonstrate our dedication to enhancing the lives of marginalized communities through sustainable access to essential resources. We look forward to the opportunity to continue our work in Tana River, Kenya, and appreciate your consideration of our proposal.
