Over the past months,  our youth leadership cohorts have been busy. The Afrocaribenitas summer camp closed with an art exhibit of traditional Loiza carnival masks that were later used in a parade during Loiza's traditional Santiago Apostol festivities. The Marea Joven project (our Youth Council project) launched its first campaign on gender equality and healthy relationships called "Tumba el toxiqueo" or Stop toxic dynamics. It already has its own website and social media profiles! The Climate Justice Youth Committees had their first ever in person retreat where leadership is strengthened and fostered. All in all, a couple of months full of youth activities.

During all these eventsThe Impossible Poster proved all over again how it can be a crucial tool to help young people navigate difficult emotions, and find ways to center hope and collective wellbeing. The poster has definitely inspired our youth leaders. But also it has sparked conversations with students and educators during our outreach events and helped community members across Puerto Rico to imagine new futures for our youth. Our work with young artists, organizers and leaders is grounded in the futures we want to build with them, futures rooted in dignity, creativity, and social justice. Through  outreach events, retreats, school visits, community workshops, and public installations, the Impossible Poster has reached hundreds of people—many finding with it an invitation to committ to collective action. Your support has allowed us to expand access, strengthen educational materials, and deepen the project’s impact in underserved communities.

Why this matters

Puerto Rico faces overlapping challenges: economic uncertainty, forced migration, climate vulnerability, limited access to consistent support and educational resources for our youth. Therefore a low-cost, high-impact creative educational material can make a huge difference. The safe space the Impossible Poster conversations create is at the same time a framework for linking imagination with civic engagement. Participants consistently report feeling more motivated to pursue their dreams, do things out of their confort zone, collaborate with peers, and believe their ideas matter. Every poster printed and every conversation sparked is a reminder that young people in Puerto Rico deserve tools that help them see themselves as creators of change—not just survivors of crisis.

On behalf of our entire team and the communities we serve: thank you for believing in our youth and their creativity, committment, and collective power.

With gratitude,
TALLER SALUD Team
