In the early morning hours of Friday, July 4, more than 12 inches of rain inundated Kerr County, Texas, in a short period of time. This torrential downpour caused the Guadalupe River to surge over 25 feet within 45 minutes, reaching nearly 35 feet. The flooding created an emergency situation that resulted in multiple fatalities and impacts, including some residential flooding.
Convoy of Hope has been actively communicating with local partners in affected communities to determine how best to serve. Trucks packed with critical items like food, water, cleaning supplies, and hygiene kits have been and will continue to be delivered to those impacted. The flood left behind large piles of debris, making the rugged terrain even more difficult to navigate, but Convoy is committed to helping survivors in central Texas for the long haul.
