To respond to challenges associated with teenage pregnancy holistically, Ajoke Ayisat Afolabi Foundation delivered a variety of advocacy and empowerment programmes for 50 households at Egwueke, Abia state. While the advocacy programmes created awareness around emergent laws on sexual and domestic violence, as well as harmful practices, the empowerment programmes targeted the vulnerability of young girls in early and repeated pregnancies, inorder to address unexpected outcomes associated with livelihoods improvement targeting parents, particularly, mothers of teenage mothers who are solely responsible for the care of the teenagers and their babies.
In this regard, the Foundation organized a 6-week make overe training for 10 girls to empower and, introduce viable income-generating opportunities.
