The Tech Behind Bars Project, an initiative by Headfort Foundation for Justice aimed at equipping young persons in correctional facilities with basic technology and digital skills, has been temporarily placed on hold.
Following our engagement with key stakeholders, we successfully secured approval from the Ministry of Youth and Social Development to pilot the project at the Boys Correctional Center, Oregun, Lagos State, Nigeria. This marked a significant milestone and demonstrated institutional support for the initiative.
However, despite this progress, the project has not moved into the implementation phase due to a lack of available funding. At this time, we do not have the financial resources required to procure equipment, facilitate training sessions, and cover logistics necessary for effective delivery.
We remain committed to the vision of the Tech Behind Bars Project and are actively exploring funding opportunities and partnerships to enable us to resume and successfully implement the initiative. We believe this project will play a critical role in rehabilitation and reintegration by equipping young persons with relevant digital skills for the future.
We appreciate the continued support of our donors and look forward to providing updates once funding is secured and implementation resumes.
