Dear Amazing Leadership Initiatives Donor,
First and foremost, thank you! Your donations will continue to empower individuals and communities across Bauchi State, Nigeria, giving them the opportunity to form connections and address local issues using community resources. Donors’ contributions have allowed Leadership Initiatives and their students to carry out their mission of improving lives in Bauchi through supporting health initiatives and working to develop innovative solutions to problems facing the Nagari Medical Clinic and Maternity Ward. Praneel, Jagadeesh, Malcolm, Srijan, and Fuga have been engaged in months of cultural immersion and have been building connections with community leaders in Nigeria to address imperative health issues that our communities in northern Nigeria are facing.
Team PH22194 has worked throughout the last seven months to create and develop a deep understanding of how marasmus impacts the Inkil community.
Praneel, Jagadeesh, Malcolm, Srijan, and Fuga have been working with Umar Muhammad, a project coordinator in the field in the Inkil community. Through skype calls, the team has learned about the obstacles facing individuals that are dealing with marasmus. In January, Team PH22194 worked hard to create a public health proposal to address marasmus in the Inkil community. Your support of team PH22194 interns and their hard work is crucial to the success of each team and solution.
For team PH22194’s final intervention, Praneel, Jagadeesh, Malcolm, Srijan, and Fuga are preparing a community workshop to build individual and community capacity to address marasmus. By increasing health knowledge and self-sufficiency through a range of activities such as outreach, community education, informal counseling, social support, and advocacy, Praneel, Jagadeesh, Malcolm, Srijan, and Fuga hope to prevent and lower the prevalence of marasmus in the Inkil community.
As a donor to this project, we are thankful for your support as we attempt to transform lives. Please consider participating in the upcoming Little by Little campaign GlobalGiving is hosting from April 3rd - April 7th, 2023.

Dear Amazing Leadership Initiatives Supporters,
First and foremost, thank you! Your donations will continue to empower our team and communities across Bauchi State, Nigeria, giving us the opportunity to form connections and address local issues using community resources. Donors’ contributions have allowed our teams to carry out the mission of improving lives in Bauchi through supporting healthcare initiatives and working to create educational programs for its communities. Leila, Zara, and Ramona have been engaged in months of cultural immersion and have been building connections with our partners in Nigeria to accomplish the goals of preventing and treating Harmful practices issues in sub-Saharan Africa.
Leila, Zara, and Ramona have been working with their project coordinator, Mubarak, to assess the current human rights violations surrounding Harmful practices in the Inkil community. They have had multiple skype calls with their project coordinator to develop a relationship with them as well as go over vital information. Currently, Leila, Zara, and Ramona are working hard to create a community survey that will give them important data surrounding their health issue. They will then use this data to design a community workshop which will be given in the Inkil community in the spring. This workshop will inform the residents of the community about Harmful practices issues and how they can be improved. Now that Leila, Zara, and Ramona are equipped with your support they are moving forward on the path of doing everything they can to raise awareness for Harmful practices issues in Bauchi, Nigeria.
As a supporter of this project, Leadership Initiatives would love to have you involved if you ever want to help grow our programs, learn of ways you can participate, or have new ideas on how this team could best help work on their public health issue. Please contact Executive Director Marshall Bailly at mbailly@lichange.org if you have any suggestions, questions, or comments! Your hard work and support is the greatest gift we could receive as we attempt to create a better world.
