Empowering Entrepreneurs Through Partnership

By Marshall Bailly | Executive Director

Dear Leadership Initiatives Donor,

This year, Lucas, Ben, Hongyi, and Jawdan, a team of dedicated interns from Team 25138, are partnering with Yusha'u, a local entrepreneur in Bauchi who runs a Carpentry Business. Together, they are working to strengthen the foundation of the business and open new opportunities for growth.

The team began by completing a SWOT report, which examines the business’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. This process helps identify what is working well, what challenges are limiting progress, and what strategies can help the business succeed in the long term. Through these conversations, interns gain valuable insight into the daily struggles that small business owners face in northern Nigeria, including limited access to customers, unreliable electricity, and a lack of marketing tools.

Yusha'u currently earns less than fifty dollars each month, which must cover food, rent, and basic needs for the entire family. Even small improvements can make a tremendous difference. A stronger brand identity and a clear marketing plan can help attract more customers, increase sales, and create stability for the family.

The next step for Lucas, Ben, Hongyi, and Jawdan is to design a complete brand identity and branding proposal for Yusha'u. This includes a business name, slogan, color palette, and visual style that reflect the values and personality of the Carpentry Business. Together, they are creating materials that will make the business more recognizable and professional, both within the community and to potential new clients.

Your support is what makes these partnerships possible. Donations fund business training, branding materials, mentorship sessions, and community meetings that help entrepreneurs turn small local ventures into sustainable sources of income. Each contribution creates lasting change for families like Yusha'u’s by giving them the tools and confidence to grow their businesses and achieve financial independence.
