Team 23192 Receives Microgrant- Gloria Akpan

By Marshall Bailly | Executive Director

Dear Leadership Initiatives Donor,

Layla, Anika, Aryana, and Aadi have been amazing interns in Leadership Initiatives’ International Business & Development Internship Program. Over the past year, these students have built cross-cultural relationships with their project coordinator, Glory Dadi, as well as their business partner, Gloria Akpan, who runs an up-and-coming Hair Salon. Throughout their time working with Gloria, team 23192 have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to not only understanding Nigerian culture and business intricacies but also fostering a deeply meaningful connection with their business partner. Their dedication and passion for learning have been truly inspiring, marking them as exemplary representatives of cultural exchange and business innovation.

Layla, Anika, Aryana, and Aadi have been working throughout the last few months to create and develop innovative solutions for Gloria to assist in establishing and growing their Hair Salon. After months of working together and in conjunction with their business partner and project coordinator, team 23192 applied for a microgrant for the business, and their proposal was just approved! This microgrant will furnish the business with essential resources, empowering Gloria to enhance service offerings, expand the customer base, and elevate profitability. The approval of this grant stands as a testament to the hard work, ingenuity, and dedication of team 23192, solidifying their role as leaders for positive change and entrepreneurial growth.

Additionally, Leadership Initiatives is beginning work on multiple community development projects in rural areas of Bauchi, Nigeria. To highlight one, In the Guru community, a culvert bridge will be constructed that will foster connectivity to other communities and allow access to vital services during the rainy season. These projects underscore Leadership Initiatives' commitment to empowering communities, driving sustainable development, and creating lasting positive change.

On behalf of everyone at Leadership Initiatives, thank you for everything that you have done. We all truly appreciate your donation and support for our organization. Everyone at Leadership Initiatives would love to have you more involved in our organization if you would ever want to help us grow our programs or learn more about ways that you can assist. Please contact Executive Director Marshall Bailly at mbailly@lichange.org if you have any suggestions, questions, or comments!

Sincerely,

The Leadership Initiatives Team
