The Tatnall School Students Creating Change

Dear Amazing Leadership Initiatives Donor,

To start off, thank you for your donations! These donations will continue to help enhance communities and create change in Bauchi State, Nigeria. Your support towards our student interns allows them to address major challenges in the community. Without the help of our donors, this would not have been possible. The student interns in our program have learned so much from our partners in Nigeria and have worked hard to create a better life for those in Bauchi. For our business program, each team has gone through the process of bonding with their business partner, learning about their lives, realizing the largest issues facing the business, and developing solutions to these issues. For our advocacy and public health programs, teams have gotten to know their project coordinator, learned all about their issue's history and present status in Nigeria, and developed a campaign to raise awareness for their issue in the community.

Our students in the business, public health, and advocacy programs worked hard throughout the year to improve the lives of those in Bauchi, Nigeria. We are so proud of the student interns for how well they finished the year out. To start off, those in our Business program ended the year by finishing their micro-grant solution proposal and having one final call with their business partner to go over their innovative solution with them. For our Advocacy and Public Health programs, student interns finished off by drafting and finalizing a full community workshop for facilitators to implement on the ground. These community workshops will be used to inform residents of Sabuwar Kasuwa and Gudum Sayawa communities in Bauchi about several advocacy and public health issues. To officially end the year off, these students had a Skype call with their project coordinator where they explained to them exactly how to give the community workshop and what information should be included in it.

While the International Internship Program takes a break this summer, the work that our interns do continues in Washington D.C. on the Georgetown University campus. Here, we are running our Youth Development Programs focusing on medicine and public health, business, law, national security, and neuroscience. Similar to IIP, each of the interns in this program is working to create positive change in the United States and abroad. In the Advanced Medical and Public Health Internship, interns are diagnosing real patients and developing public health campaigns. In the International Leadership and Business Internship, interns are launching a startup with entrepreneurs based in Nigeria and securing a grant for these new businesses. Our Advanced Law and Trial interns are assisting attorneys with court documents, research, and trial preparation. National Security and Intelligence interns are working directly with national security experts to train in the latest intelligence tactics and implement security strategies to save lives. Finally, in the Medical Neuroscience Internship, interns are participating in cutting-edge neuroscience and ethics research. On August 29, 2022, IIP will resume and our interns will return to a virtual format.

As a donor to this project, we are so thankful to have your support as we attempt to create change for those in Bauchi Nigeria. Everyone at Leadership Initiatives would love to have you more involved in our organization if you would ever want to help us grow our programs or learn more about ways that you can assist. Please contact Executive Director Marshall Bailly at mbailly@lichange.org if you have any suggestions, questions, or comments!

Dear Amazing Leadership Initiatives Donor,

To start off, thank you! Because of your generous donations, we are able to continue giving the opportunity of connecting our interns with small business owners in Bauchi State, Nigeria. These interns work daily to design innovative solutions to address the problems facing their partner. As an organization, our mission is to transform the lives of those in Bauchi. This is supported directly through your donations, which allows us to provide small business owners with the tools to improve their business and grow an ecosystem of support in their community. Your support of these interns and their hard work is crucial to the success of each team and their fight to change the lives of their business partners.

Our interns have been working throughout the spring semester to develop a micro-grant proposal to address the issues they identified with their business partner and project coordinator. This micro-grant will be used to fulfill any material need that their business partner has. Each of these teams has spent time writing a detailed proposal, developing a budget, and coming up with innovative ways to monitor the progress of this proposal. This micro-grant will exponentially help each business by addressing specific pressing issues that they are facing. Once each proposal is approved and implemented by each business partner, they will increase profits and create a more successful business.

Throughout the past four months, our interns have had multiple skype calls with their business partners, where they have had the opportunity to gain information about the best application of micro-grant funds. They have used this data to work to finalize their micro-grant solution proposal before it is reviewed. In addition to helping their business, these interns have also created a strong relationship with their business partners.

We are so grateful for your support as we work daily to change lives. We would love to have you involved if you ever want to help grow our programs, learn of ways you can participate, or have new ideas on how this team could best help their business partner. Please contact Executive Director Marshall Bailly at mbailly@lichange.org if you have any suggestions, questions, or comments!

On behalf of everyone at Leadership Initiatives, thank you so much for your support. Without you, we would not be able to constantly work to improve the lives of those in Bauchi. We all truly appreciate your donation and constant support for our organization. Your support is the greatest gift we could receive as we attempt to create a better world.

Wishing you, your family, and your friends the absolute best!

Sincerely,

Leadership Initiatives

Dear Amazing Leadership Initiatives Donor,

First and foremost, thank you! Your donations will continue to empower individuals and communities across Bauchi State, Nigeria, giving them the opportunity to form connections and address local issues using community resources. Donors’ contributions have allowed us to carry out the mission of improving lives in Bauchi through supporting entrepreneurs and working to design innovative solutions to problems for small business owners. We have been building connections with our business partners in Nigeria to accomplish the goal of fixing the imperative issues that each business is facing.

Our students have been working throughout the fall semester to create and develop innovative advertising solutions special to their business partners. We have been working with a multitude of businesses such as fish farming, tailoring, electronics, and auto-repair. Each of these teams has written a detailed solution proposal, outlining everything that they have worked on these past few months. These developed solutions can help each business expand their customer base which increases their profit and creates a better life for themselves and their family.

These interns have been working with their business partners to learn about the potential solutions for their business problems. They have had multiple skype calls with their business partner to develop a relationship with them as well as go over vital business information. Currently, this team is working hard to come up with a bookkeeping/financial tracking solution for their business. Your support of these interns and their hard work is crucial to the success of each team and solution.

As a donor to this project, your support is an amazing thing to have as we attempt to transform lives. Everyone at Leadership Initiatives would love to have you more involved in our organization if you would ever want to help us grow our programs or learn more about ways that you can assist. Please contact Executive Director Marshall Bailly at mbailly@lichange.org if you have any suggestions, questions, or comments!

Dear Donors,

The building project commenced on the 18th of October, 2021. We currently have 20 construction professionals working on the building site. The main focus of this week's construction plan was to complete the foundation, layout the building blueprint in bricks, and start the construction of the walls. The first part of construction to take place was the guard’s quarters. These will help ensure that we have a guard on staff to keep the building safe. The second part of the construction was the exterior walls for the fence. This will help protect the building as we continue the project. We then moved to lay the foundation and bricks for the classroom.

The building is taking shape quickly due to the number of construction professionals we have on staff. They have committed to working 10 hour days to strive and complete the project ahead of schedule. Work starts every morning by 8:00 AM and finishes around 5:00 PM.

The construction team has already used 5250 cement bricks to create the blueprint of the building plan. These bricks are the strongest ones available in the community.

You can view pictures below of the progress that has been made in the last five days.

Next week the construction team is going to continue on the walls of the building until they have been completed. It is our goal by October 30th that the walls for the entire building will be up and construction of the roof will begin once the walls have been completed.

I have also attached a few photos below that best represent the progress made.

If you would like to know more information about this project, feel free to reach out.

Wishing you a wonderful day,

Marshall
