Over the past year, with your support, 150 underprivileged children in Rafah, Gaza, have been taking Art, Science, and English lessons during COVID in a safe and caring environment. They are being taught by the most dedicated and hard-working teachers who took it upon themselves to bring smiles to children's faces after the May 2021 bombings. Two distinguished artists are now bringing joy to deaf children in Jabaliya Refugee Camp through the medium of art. Thank you for making it possible!
Education is a big challenge during COVID in Gaza which simply doesn't have resources to cope. With four children to a desk and double shifts at most schools, there is no way to ensure children's safety against COVID. This project seeks to support a safe learning model despite the challenges of lockdowns, the collapse of Gaza's economy, and the heavy psychological toll on children after the May 2021 bombings. Help extend this model program to more children & more Gaza neighborhoods.
In response to COVID, we launched this project to provide high quality and safe learning to impoverished children in Gaza who did not have access to online education. Through your support, we're able to fund teachers' salaries, study materials, and PPE. It has evolved and adapted to meet the needs of children, transitioning to a safe after-school program taught outdoors. The model program is now extending to include an art workshop for deaf children helping them develop creative expression.
Starting small and starting where it counts can certainly make a difference. Following this approach, we are supporting a learning model which is safe, inclusive, fun, and engaging, that ensures children in Gaza grow up to be engaged members of society despite the challenges in their lives. It is our hope, with time, that this learning model extends to include more teachers and students throughout the area.
