Thanksgiving is a time to reflect upon the many things that we’re grateful for. Like good health, a full table and of course, the generosity of our donors to enable us to help children. In that spirit, we asked some of the children in places where we work – and some of our Save the Children colleagues – what they’re grateful for. Here are the top five answers that warmed our hearts:
1. “I like my early learners group,” 6-year old Khadija in Afghanistan said. “There are many colorful toys for playing. Thank you to the sponsorship program!”
2. “I’m grateful for Save the Children’s emergency teams who have gone above and beyond the call of duty. They’re working around the clock helping children caught up in crises and disasters in every corner of the world – and right here at home in the U.S., responding to the terrible hurricanes that have ravaged our homeland.” – Laura C., Senior Director, Humanitarian Response
3. “I was sponsored and now 60 years later, they’re still doing it, and doing it better and better,” said Sanyu, sponsor of a little girl in Uganda.
4." I am thankful for the opportunity to improve the quality of children’s lives – and their families’ lives – by having an integral role in providing international food assistance to those most in need." – Cheryl C., Associate Director, Commodity Operations
5. “I’m thankful can read on my own!” said Cherish, a child living in poverty in rural TN. “I read lots of books now. I know how important it is to be smart. When I grow up, I want to be a doctor, so I can help people like my Mom and Dad.”
Thanks to people like you, we are overwhlemed with gratitude.
From all of us at Save the Children, we wish you and your loved ones a joyous holiday season!
