TANF aims at keeping the children we sponsor and their families healthy, by offering a free medical screening in the rural community which lacks health facilities, access to medicines and regular health checks and access to health education. During each health screening event TANF offers free malaria test, mosquito net and educative seminars on variety of topics.
By TANF's regular health screening events it aims to address three key issues: 1. Lack of mosquito nets & malaria testing kits, supported by the fact that there are not enough local nurses&volunteers to run the tests. 2. Poor capacity & reach of local hospitals & clinics to provide health screenings and treatment to rural areas in Ghana. 3. Poor health education and proactiveness of parents to assure they & their kids get tested regularly + poor education on birth control, protected sex etc.
Good health is vital to make sure children can attend school and their parents can go to work to earn a living for the family. We believe that a child can only concentrate and learn if they are healthy and if their family is healthy. During the health screening we do not only do basic checks, but we also give out free treatment and organize education on health topics, such as HIV/AIDS, malaria or nutrition, for entire communities and we distribute free mosquito nets & train people on their use.
We hope that with our health-screening events we will raise the awareness around the significance of good health, share information on prevention and good nutrition and further help those being ill and fighting a disease to improve their condition and life-quality. Our long term goal is to contribute to a healthy community through regular testing, awareness and prevention, assuring healthy and happy families.
