Typhoon Gaemi has ravaged Taiwan with severe flooding, landslides, and widespread destruction in mountainous regions. The Mustard Seed Mission is urgently launching a relief and rehabilitation project to aid affected communities. Your support is crucial for delivering emergency supplies, rebuilding homes, and assisting long-term recovery efforts, restoring hope and stability to these hard-hit areas.
Typhoon Gaemi has caused catastrophic flooding and landslides, isolating remote villages and causing widespread destruction across Taiwan. With cumulative rainfall exceeding 1000mm in various regions, homes and agricultural lands are severely damaged. The disaster has resulted in 10 deaths, 2 missing persons, and 895 injuries, with agricultural losses nearing US$750 million. Displaced families and disrupted livelihoods urgently need immediate and long-term support for recovery and rebuilding.
Our project focuses on immediate relief, infrastructure rehabilitation, and long-term recovery: (1)distributing essential supplies like food and water, and providing psychosocial support to help individuals cope with trauma; (2)next, repairing and rebuilding homes to ensure safe living conditions; (3)additionally, offering grants to farmers to restart agricultural activities and providing disaster preparedness and resilience training to rural, mountainous, and indigenous communities.
This project will initially support over 800 households. By providing immediate relief and long-term recovery, we aim to help communities rebuild and strengthen resilience against future disasters. Our efforts will restore normalcy and security, ensuring they have the resources and training to face future challenges. Through agricultural grants and resilience training, we will empower these communities to recover economically and socially, fostering a sustainable and self-reliant future.
