Sustaining Fund for 15 Poor Children

Project Report | Dec 8, 2015
Thank you for Sustaining CCHP!

By David Biviano | Development Consultant

We extend our thanks to all who have donated to the “Sustaining Fund”, which has reached its $2,000 goal. These funds have indeed sustained Santepheap during the past three months, providing for rent and food, basic needs for caring for these wonderful children. With additional support from visitors and volunteers, the children remain healthy, have been outfitted for the new school year, and are again working hard at their studies.

The goal of this project was to secure $2,000 in monthly donations. We did achieve $500 in monthly donations. As those accumulated over three months, with the addition of many one-time donations, we reached the $2,000 goal. However, we did not succeed in gaining the needed sustaining funds, the monthly donations. We appreciate the fact that $1/day, $30/month adds up to $360/year, a generous amount to ask for. I ask myself what I typically spend a dollar a day on, and it’s usually trivial things, non-necessities even. So, that helps me commit to a dollar a day for something I really care about. We also realize that our benefactors have many commitments to causes they care about. We cannot thank our past and current donors enough for all they have done to sustain Santepheap!

So, let us say THANK YOU again! And by “Us”, we especially mean the children themselves, who benefit every day from proper nutrition, a safe and comfortable place to live, study and play, from the opportunity to attend school, and eventually go to vocational training or university! Our graduates are working in major hotels as bakers, in shops as mechanics, in studios as sculptors, in university preparing for careers in service to their communities and country. Without a project like Santepheap, they would more likely be in their villages, undernourished, poorly educated if at all, working as children, within a cycle of poverty that persists in the countryside, and even in the cities.

You, our Friends of the Children of Cambodia, of The Cambodian Children’s House of Peace, are our heroes! Please use our new project to make additional donations.

                            ~ THANK YOU! ~
