Deafblindness is a unique disability, where a person has a combination of vision and hearing impairment. Deafblindness causes extreme challenges in communication, mobility and access to information. Sense India works for providing living skills, education, healthcare and vocation training to children and young adults with deafblindness. For deafblind adults, due to complex challenges associated with communication, it is very difficult for them to find formal jobs and get sustainable income.
Sense India works with deafblind adults and provides them vocational training, which is a key step towards their self-reliance and for their inclusion in the society. Upon completion of training, deafblind adults are provided a seed capital from Sense India to start their venture and become micro-entrepreneurs. Deafblind micro-entrepreneurs need constant support, guidance and training from Sense India to sustain their venture and learn new skills as per the market change.
Deafblind adults would become successful micro-entrepreneurs and support their families with income. The micro-enterprises started by deafblind adults play an important role in confidence building of deafblind adults and become active members of the society.
