Cultural professionals want to be sustainable but don't know how. Ki Culture's Sustainability Ambassador Program combines tools, resources, and support - empowering and enabling everyone, everywhere to work towards a sustainable future. The backbone of the Program are our freely available Ki Books, which are the step-by-step guides specifically designed for cultural professionals on HOW to be sustainable.
In the USA alone, museums account for 12 million metric tonnes of carbon emissions every year. That's the equivalent of all of the cars in the city of London! The way that museums are functioning now is not sustainable. We need to move away from presenting our history in a way that damages the planet and fails to represent the diverse perspectives of the people that live on it. There are many practitioners who want to drive this change, but lack the support or expertise.
The Sustainability Ambassador Program provides cultural practitioners with everything they need to take action and become leaders on sustainability. Our Ki Books are the roadmap, with tools and resources to help individuals along their way. The Program offers extra support in the form of training, links to networks, and local expertise to enable them to achieve sustainable success.
By empowering individuals, the Sustainability Ambassador Program will change the sector from within and position cultural organizations as leaders for a sustainable future. From grass-roots to top-down, the Program fosters a culture of sustainability; organizationally, locally, and globally - inspiring peers, encouraging partners, and influencing policy.
