Surgical campaigns - Aniquem

As every year, we have already begun preparations for our upcoming surgical campaign.

This year, the campaign will take place in the beautiful city of Cusco, a mystical and well-known destination. We plan to provide life-changing surgeries to 40 children and adolescents with severe burn injuries from the southern region of Peru.

The medical team will include highly specialized plastic surgeons from Peru and abroad. Each patient will undergo 3 to 4 surgical procedures, with each surgery lasting approximately 3 to 4 hours. The campaign will run over five days, including one day for patient evaluations and an additional day dedicated to post-operative care.

We know that surgery is only the beginning of a much longer recovery journey. After the procedures, patients will continue with comprehensive physical and emotional rehabilitation. ANIQEM will ensure ongoing care through our Cusco office and, when necessary, at our Lima headquarters.

In the more than 10 years that we have been conducting surgical campaigns in different parts of Peru, we have seen that the percentage of women is very similar to that of men.

It's important to remember that scars are mostly the result of injuries not treated in time and require correction. That is why these surgical campaigns were created: to give hope back to many children and their families who were unaware of the rehabilitation treatment available.

In addition, the families are very poor and live in remote areas where medical care is lacking, all of which causes the family to lose hope that their loved one will recover and move forward. In a smaller percentage of cases, the child drops out of school, which worsens their emotional health.

At Aniquem, we know that physical health cannot function without emotional support; in this way, we help patients return to their daily activities as before.
