Katya was only two months old when she was diagnosed with retinoblastoma, the tumor of the eye. Her parents could not believe. They asked for a second opinion, went to a private clinic, travelled to Ukraine - only to confirm their baby had a dreadful disease in her little button eyes. The surgery had to be done without delay.
In mid-March, Katya and her parents came to Germany. After a long two-hour examination, diagnosis was confirmed and treatment has begun the next days. Unfortunately, Katya’s left eye was removed but doctors fought for the right eye. In the next six months, Katya went through six courses of chemotherapy. She will be needing prosthetics and will have to come for regular checkups once in every three months but doctors hope she will improve.
Thanks to your generous support, we could pay for part of Katya’s treatment. In July - September, we raised $2,135 through our project. Katya’s mom thanks everyone for their kindness. She has grown up without a mother and only hopes to be a good mother for her child. Her family deserves that!
