A 6.8 magnitude earthquake has hit Morocco, killing at least 2,800 people, injuring more than 2,500, damaging ancient buildings, and sending terrified people fleeing into the streets for safety. EFE-Maroc is providing support to these communities by assisting local NGOs and authorities with immediate relief fundraising necessary to rescue victims, provide food, temporary shelters, and survival kits for homeless families, as well as others affected.
Thousands of Moroccans have been left without basic necessities for survival after this devastating earthquake. Battling harsh climate conditions in the high Atlas Mountains, the victims are in critical need of survival kits, which include food, tents, medical supplies, and other essentials. In addition to basic survival, the country needs support to overcome disruptions to vital infrastructure and the economy, as well as ensure emotional and psychological support to survivors.
EFE-Maroc is joining forces with other local NGOs and authorities to ensure those affected are getting the support they urgently need by organizing and distributing essential supplies to the most underserved regions. EFE-Maroc and its thousands of alumni are equipped to coordinate the logistics on the ground to transport the survival kits and organize blood donation campaigns.
Beyond immediate relief that is critical to the survival of the victims, EFE-Maroc is able to help with the long-term recovery. EFE-Maroc can train people and link them to economic opportunities to support them in getting back on their feet.
