Hello and thank you to our GESL supporters!
We can't thank you enough for your continued support of our programming and various programs to keep our girls safe, healthy, and empowered!
As a result of your support, GESL has been able to continue strong into 2021 with ongoing workshops and activities to keep our girls flourishing. Our IGNITE E-learning Series continued its virtual classes for girls throughout the West African region. Our SHE series was able to ensure continued learning and engagement for Sierra Leonean girls during the Covid-19 period, producing various animated videos, podcasts, radio programming, posters, and most recently videos highlighting local Sierra Leonean women who are inspirational entrepreneurs! Be sure to subscribe to our Youtube channel to stay up to date with our latest videos!
The past year has shined a light on the necessity of another one of our GESL programs, our Emergency Assistance Program. This GESL program provides emergency support to families represented by GESL in the event of crisis & disaster that may impede the education of girls. During the Ebola crisis, GESL provided emergency food packages to families. If a parent loses his or her job, we aim to cover their girls' school fees to keep them from dropping out of school. During Covid, the need for emergency educational assistance has been more crucial than ever to keep our girls safe, healthy, and empowered. Environmental, societal, and personal issues can hinder our girls' ability to maintain their studies, and we seek to ensure that no girl should have to drop out of school due to issues beyond her control. Our GESL families are a huge part of our program, and making sure they are safe allows us to make sure our GESL girls can continue to grow into their full potential through continued education and leadership.
