GESL's Emergency Assistance program provides emergency support to families represented by GESL in the event of crisis & disaster that may impede the education of girls. During the Ebola crisis, GESL provided emergency food packages to families. If a parent loses his or her job, we aim to cover their girls' school fees to keep them from dropping out of school. W/Covid, the need for emergency educational assistance has been more crucial than ever to keep our girls safe, healthy, and empowered.
While our program seeks to nurture and enhance the leadership skills of our girls, that is only possible with the ability to make sure that our GESL family units are also nurtured. Environmental, societal & personal issues can hinder our girls' ability to maintain their studies, & we seek to ensure that no girl should have to drop out of school due to issues beyond her control. The past year's Covid & educational struggles have only proven that this program is needed now more than ever.
Our Emergency Assistance Grant aims to keep our girls from ever having to step away from their studies. Education is imperative to making sure our girls can thrive and this program strives to do that.
Our GESL families are a huge part of our program. Making sure our GESL families are safe allows us to make sure our GESL girls can continue to grow into their full potential through continued education and leadership.
