Blind people in north of Syria face enormous challenges in their communities, such as lack of awareness, stereotypes, and negative attitudes, in addition to the war that has doubled their suffering and numbers and has seriously increased the isolation of disabled and blind people, who face marginalization, the risk of abandonment and the urgent need for permanent accompaniers, along with the weak support dedicated to their needs and the scarcity of associations and projects supporting them.
Sighted Hands Center is one of the few centers supporting the blind in northwest Syria. The center trains them to make and produce many distinctive handicrafts and decorative objects, and assist them to market and sell the products in the local markets. The center targets both the totally and partially blind people aged 15-40 years.
