Story / Update

School vacations provide an excellent opportunity for children to explore new interests, develop practical skills, and enhance their personal growth. To make the summer break productive and meaningful, Alkhidmat Khawateen Trust Faisalabad organized a 15-day Summer Camp for girls from the local community.

The camp offered a variety of educational and skill-building sessions, including basic IT skills, stitching and sewing, art & crafts, self-grooming, and interactive learning activities. These sessions were designed to equip participants with practical knowledge while encouraging creativity, confidence, and self-development.

The 21 participating girls enthusiastically engaged in all activities, demonstrating a strong desire to learn and grow. The camp also provided a safe and supportive environment where participants could interact, express their creativity, and develop valuable life skills.

Summary

The Kalash Women Skill Development Center in Kalash Valley, Chitral, is providing vocational and income-generating skills to local women, empowering them to become financially independent and improve their livelihoods.

To date, more than 30 women have successfully graduated from the program and are now earning an income through their newly acquired skills.

Story / Update

Women in remote communities often face limited access to education, vocational training, and employment opportunities. In the culturally rich but geographically isolated Kalash Valley of Chitral, many women possess talent and potential but lack the resources needed to transform their skills into sustainable sources of income.

To address this challenge, Alkhidmat Foundation established the Kalash Women Skill Development Center, providing women with practical vocational training and entrepreneurial skills. Through structured training programs, participants learn valuable crafts and marketable skills that enable them to generate income and contribute to their household finances.

The center has already achieved encouraging results, with more than 30 women graduating from the program. Many graduates are now earning through home-based businesses and skilled work, improving their economic stability and gaining greater confidence and independence.

This initiative is helping create opportunities for women while preserving local traditions, promoting self-reliance, and strengthening the socio-economic well-being of families across the Kalash community.
