Thank you very much for your contribution to the gender movement in Hong Kong. In the past one month, we are busy with meeting with potential grant applicants. We have met many new and small organisations that would like to increase their voices and participation in the gender movement. With your contribution, we are going to grant at least 6 organisations to work on different issues.
Last month (September), we designed a legal pro bono introductory workshop for our grantee partners. We invited law firms and PILnet HK to share the idea of legal pro bono. We also created an opportunity for our grantee partners to meet with these law firms and PILnet HK individually to have a mutual understanding. We have this idea because we learnt that grantee partners have a lot of needs that law firms can support them (they thought law firms can only provide case legal advice), and they do not know how law firms select their pro bono partners. Law firms have a lot of experiences working with bigger organisations while they do not have much experience in working with very small and grassroots organisations. This allows them to connect and build new resources. Without unrestricted donation, we cannot response to the community needs flexible way. This is a good example and we need more unrestricted donation for grantmaking and capacity strengthening.
Please invite your friends to join the community and donate to support the gender movement in Hong Kong.
best,
Judy
