Invite your friends to become Gender Champions!
By Judy Kan | Executive Director
After the last report in February, we've done a lot including:
- Celebrating International Women's Day and HER Fund's 20th Anniversary with our grantee partners and supporters
- Call for new grant applications and funded 8 organisations to work on their projects and organisational development
- Strengthening the capacity of 3 small different ethnicity organisations' leaders and funded them to implement their projects
- Held financial management workshops for grantee partners
- Held a Tea Party with our grantee partners
- Held training workshops to strengthen the leadership capacity of 6 grantee partners
- and many more!
We need more individual and corporate donors to support our work so that it can be more sustainable as social changes and gender equality movement journey is a long way to go. It's not a magic to change in a year. We encourage you to spread the messages to your friends and invite them to join us to become Gender Champions for the gender equality movement in Hong Kong!
Thank you for your trust and commitment!
best,
Judy Kan

Diverse and grassroots communities got funded!
By Judy Kan | Executive Director
Dear supporters,
Happy Lunar New Year! I wish you all a blossom and healthy year of Dragon.
We're glad to let you all know that with the donation raised, we can increase our commitment to diverse and grassroots communities to achieve their mission and vision for advancing gender equality. In our last report, we said that we would grant 6 projects but we can grant 8 at the end!
We have projects that work with girls, grassroots women, migrant domestic workers, ethnic minorities, asylum seekers, and queers. Issues are on self-confidence, labour rights, trafficking, forced marriage, and wider awareness raising. However, their projects can't be sustainable if we don't have your next support to keep their work next year. Please keep donation and share around to ask your friends and colleagues to join you to support the gender equality work and movement in Hong Kong.
Thank you very much!
best,
Judy Kan

With your contribution, we can grant more!
By Judy Kan | Executive Director
Thank you very much for your contribution to the gender movement in Hong Kong. In the past one month, we are busy with meeting with potential grant applicants. We have met many new and small organisations that would like to increase their voices and participation in the gender movement. With your contribution, we are going to grant at least 6 organisations to work on different issues.
Last month (September), we designed a legal pro bono introductory workshop for our grantee partners. We invited law firms and PILnet HK to share the idea of legal pro bono. We also created an opportunity for our grantee partners to meet with these law firms and PILnet HK individually to have a mutual understanding. We have this idea because we learnt that grantee partners have a lot of needs that law firms can support them (they thought law firms can only provide case legal advice), and they do not know how law firms select their pro bono partners. Law firms have a lot of experiences working with bigger organisations while they do not have much experience in working with very small and grassroots organisations. This allows them to connect and build new resources. Without unrestricted donation, we cannot response to the community needs flexible way. This is a good example and we need more unrestricted donation for grantmaking and capacity strengthening.
Please invite your friends to join the community and donate to support the gender movement in Hong Kong.
best,
Judy
