Social Justice for Migrant Workers Celebration
Social Justice for Migrant Workers Celebration

Curious about "We ae more than a funder!"? Yes, we are not just giving financial grant, we spent a lot of staff time to accompany our grantee partners to learn about their progress, to support them and to celebrate with them.

Our grantee partner, PrideLab, hosted a market in June to celebrate their 10th anniversary and celebrate pride month. Another one called Social Justice for Migrant Workers. They held celebration in July for their 4th birthday. We were invited to give a solidarity speech. We participated in Quarks, a youth-led trans group, book launch in May. I just named a few here.

We met them to listen to their stories of change, their learnings and their needs so that we can tailor-made something together that fit with their needs. For example, we link up Social Justice for Migrant Workers with a law firm to provide pro bono support on their registration. We line-up grantee partners to learn from each other experience in opening a bank account, etc.

Without your trust and donation, we cannot hire capable staff to provide all this timely support. It's going to be July Bonus Day very soon. Hope you can help spreading around to encourage more friends to join us as Gender Equality Champion!

best,
Judy Kan

Dear supporters,

Thank you very much for supporting HER Fund to walk with the grassroots community to advance gender equality! March is spring to bring hope. March is also the International Women's Day celebration.

We just endorsed providing funds to 5 organisations but we are more than a grant-maker. We held an exhibition to showcase our grantee partners' work by holding a panel/workshop to spread the situation of the grassroots community. We also gave power to them so that they can narrate their stories. We empowered them that they can present it in their way and there are people to listen to them.

We need your continuous support so that we can fund more this year. After COVID is having hard time for fundraising, it will affect our support to the community.

Thank you very much!

best,
Judy

In our last report, we received 20 applications from the community. After mutual communications and a due diligence process, our board endorsed giving small grants to 5 organisations that are working with, for and by young girls, grassroots women workers, women asylum seekers, positive menstruation, and trans' rights. This is not possible to make it without your donation!

Groups request resources more than we have to achieve their goals for gender equality. We are going to announce our 2nd cycle for this financial year, and we do hope that you can spread the wording for us so that more people will support the community. Together, we can go further!

Thank you very much!

best,

Judy Kan

With your donation, we can accompany the marginalised and vulnerable women, girls and trans community, and bring their invisible voices to visible!

It's difficult to provide flexible and core funding support to our grantee partners while our funding is project based. Your donation allows us to start a new grant cycle to support the community according to our principle and policy. We received 20 applications from the community. We are now in the process of meeting with some applicants to listen to their ideas. We know that only reading wording on the paper is not enough, that's why we spend time listening and talking with them. This is what the community give us feedback. However, it's a lot of work and we are still under-staff to do all this beautiful work.

Many people see Hong Kong as an economic well-off city but we have lots of poverty, discrimination, stereotyping, and gender-based violence issues. Especially those marginalised and grassroots communities, they don't have the resources and power to make a change to have equal opportunity and access to a quality life.

Your ongoing donation is essential! Please invite your friends and corporate to join us as Gender Equality Champions!

Thank you very much!

best,
Judy Kan
