Nets That Works: building the network within the network
At Fondo de Mujeres del Sur, we have been working and studying to broaden our vision and action on the forms that violence takes in today's world.
One characteristic of these new forms is how they are deeply shaped by information technologies: tools designed to be functional have become yet another instrument for the reproduction of violence.
Fondo de Mujeres del Sur conducted a survey of more than 200 organizations across the region, and the results were alarming: technology-facilitated violence is increasing at an accelerated pace, and yet, victims do not always recognize it as such.
In 2025, within the framework of 16 Days of Activism — a campaign run annually between the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (25 November) and Human Rights Day (10 December) — Fondo de Mujeres del Sur spoke with representatives of the European Commission about the challenges encountered when addressing technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV), the threat it poses to democratic participation and which local strategies are proving most effective in response to it.
In this way, we drive the work of organized women and gender-diverse groups, researchers, communicators, advocates, and cyber activists who are transforming the response to digital violence in the region.
