Summary

The project provides daily hot meals during the war to 800 vulnerable residents of Ukraine, namely refugee families, pensioners, people with disabilities and the homeless, living in cities under constant shelling. Our food outlets are their only chance to have a proper meal in wartime, to stay healthy, strong and maintain their human dignity.

Challenge

The fourth year of war in Ukraine continues to destroy the lives of civilians. According to the World Bank, around 9 million Ukrainians are living below the poverty line. Prices are rising, and many have lost their homes, jobs and livelihoods. 22% of internally displaced persons live in extreme poverty. For the most vulnerable groups, daily meals are a matter of survival. One hot meal a day gives them the strength to survive another day of war. Without external support, these people cannot cope.

Solution

In cities that regularly suffer from shelling - Kyiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Oleksandriia - our free hot meal outlets are open for displaced families, pensioners, people with disabilities, and the homeless. The project provides food, water, tableware, and everything else needed for the centres to operate uninterrupted. With stable funding, we will be able to expand the network and help even more people in need.

Long-Term Impact

Project will provide regular hot meals for the vulnerable groups in wartime, reducing the risk of hunger, which will support people's health and strength in constant stress. Food outlets are not only places to eat, but also to get a support: here, people can socialise and ask for help. It helps to preserve human dignity and the feeling you are not alone. In the long term, project will help people survive difficult times, preserve their vital resources and give them a chance to start a new life.
