Thank You: Keeping Our Volunteers Working

Working through winter cold and power cuts
Working through winter cold and power cuts

When we launched this campaign, we couldn't predict how brutal this winter would be. Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure and severe frosts left millions of Ukrainians without electricity, heat, water, and communication.

What our “ordinary” day looks like: You wake up after a night of shelling in an apartment that's only 5-9 °C. There's no water — you can't wash up or use the bathroom. There's no electricity — you can't cook anything. Food in the fridge has spoiled. This is the reality for millions of people in Ukraine this winter.

And under these very conditions, our volunteers went out to help those whose homes were damaged by shelling. They boarded up shattered windows at -17 °C, standing outside for 7–8 hours straight.

What we managed with your support (late November — mid-January):

  • 12 days of active work
  • 87 times volunteers came to help
  • 415 requests for help — all completed

Your donations helped us purchase:

1. Construction tools and materials:

  • 3m × 16 mm steel tape measures — 8 pcs
  • 5m × 19 mm professional tape measures — 2 pcs
  • Construction permanent markers (4-packs) — 10 sets
  • Black construction markers (4-packs) — 10 sets
  • Permanent marker sets (4-packs) — 3 sets
  • Black permanent marker sets (2-packs) — 3 sets
  • Construction pencils 165 mm (6 leads) — 5 pcs
  • Drywall screws for wood — 7 packages
  • Drywall screws for metal — 18 packages
  • PROFIX cable ties 4.8×400–1 package
  • Econom BASIC HPX 60 °C masking tape — 1 roll

2. Heating:

  • Mar-Pol 8kW autonomous diesel heater — 1 unit
  • Chemical hand warmers — 50 pcs

3. Household items:

  • Campingaz Ethnic MiniMaxi 15L cooler bag — 1 pc
  • Sensio Melange 160×200 cm blankets — 2 pcs
  • “Smart Box” 2.5L containers — 3 pcs
  • Econom Box 1.1L universal container — 1 pc
  • “Smart Box” 1.2L container — 1 pc

4. Furniture:

  • 2m folding table for cutting chipboard — 1 pc

Total: 24,791.92 UAH ($575)

We're keeping the remaining funds for urgent volunteer needs during future attacks.

Your support is the strength that helps us keep going when it seems impossible. It's the hope that reminds us: goodness exists not just in fairy tales, but here and now.

Winter isn't over yet. We need your help. Donate, share, and tell others about this campaign!

Thank you from the Brave to Rebuild volunteer community!
