Children light up when they see UPO Foster Grandma Sandra Wood. She has nurtured students at Anne Beers Elementary for over a decade, mentoring them in literacy, math, motor skills, and social-emotional skills.
How important is Grandma Sandra? Teacher Constance Fernandez said, “She’s like my right arm. How would you get through the day without your right arm?”
After the pandemic arrived, Grandma Sandra also learned computer skills so that she could keep teaching her students.
Our “Foster Grandparents” — senior volunteers who mentor children — want to be the best possible educators. That’s why UPO is committed to providing every volunteer with the computer training they need to support children in Title 1 schools — the kids who need the most help.
Your donation makes this happen. Thanks to generous hearts like yours, our Foster Grandparents empower the next generation. Together, you and UPO help children to blossom!
